| DB14, I've asked this question a couple of times, including about the archives of Fort Napier Cemetery where he is buried, but nothing has turned up as yet. I did put this question to Ken Gillings, who I think lives in the area, so hopefully he might add something at a later date, but for all there were quite a few people present at the funeral , it doesn't appear to have made the headlines of any newspaper, only maybe a small article or two, if any. No photographs at all by what I've been informed, even though he was well-known, though not always for the right reasons, but it still surprises me that it wasn't covered as an in-depth story for the Natal newspapers. |

| Hi DB14 / Colin.J. One day they'll turn up .............We just need someone to start clearing out their Sheds , attics , Cellars or Garages , most likely in South Africa ............Somewhere . I find it hard to believe that it Wouldn't have been a big deal ! back in 1879 , re- burying someone as well known to the local and imperial people of the time , and being part of the biggest thing to hit Natal in its infancy . Looking forward to the headlines they may make when they finally see ' the light of day ' cheers 90th. |

| Hi Barry
I also would be interested in any information that you can offer on this subject.
I know that his funeral was attended by many people, so there could be a good chance that a newspaper reporter or some onlooker had a camera with them.
Hope that you find something mate.
Regards
Martin. |
