| R38 a pop , Springy. How much extra to carve Ulundi on them - then we would definitely be on to a winner!!
I can see myself on Dragon's Den already!!

| Springbok, Sergio, if you can cut me in as a third partner I can get some of my sixth form Art or DT students to carve some appropriate inscriptions into those spears. I could almost guarantee that with a bit of "ageing" shall we say, they will convince any provincial auctioneers. These kids are good. One lad made me a set of alloy wheels for my car; they look sick and they haven't broken yet!!! |

| Some of you may have seen it on the RDVC site but here is a link to a report of the auction on BBC. Some shots of the film and Ian Knight commenting. Government of KwaZulu Natal bought some of the items it seems.

| Hi Springy . Dont leave me out ! . Time for me to do some foraging in the later part of March - April ! . Sergio . I was wondering what you were thinking when LOT 109 was increasing in value at the speed of light , I had an idea these prices would be on the ridiculous side of ridiculous , and yes , I left 109 to you , I was about to bid on a snuff container , but the bidding started past what I thought to be an appropriate price ! . I was out by 300 GBP's . Steve ? . Yes , the Medal went for about the right price , but there would be a Hammer Tax to add on etc along with another fee or 3 !. So , in the end it was probably a bit expensive , but was it to a Gunner ? , they are , and seem to be rarer than others from the Royal Artillery from what I've found over time . Happy to have kept the cue in the rack as they say !. 90th |

| Well that explains some of the high prices - hard to bid aganst the KZN government!!
Gary - I think my bid on the horn was around 500 which was loads - to think it went for twice that!!. Fortunately I had secured one of the items we discussedby then so at least have something to show for the trip!!
Regards

| [quote="Jager1 Could do with the person paying £700 odd for an N/6 gunner checking out my site Jager1[/quote] Lets hope so - as long as it doesnt encourage you to put your prices up At least N/6 were involved at Ulundi I suppose. Still seems very high based on the current market. Let me know when you find anything interesting - before the Mrs spends the budget!! Cheers sergio |

| Hi Sergio . At least it wasnt a wasted trip , something is better than nothing . The next Auction featuring some Zulu Artifacts may see the prices revert back to a level of sanity , as I doubt there will be the media exposure , unless of course there will be another Auction of the same ilk !. Cheers 90th |
