| Has anyone come across a store or wayside inn on the line of march of the KDG’s, named Dill’s or Dillon’s?
Apparently one of the KDG managed to behead a local African during an incident there.
Any clues welcome.

| Frank,
Thanks for that it helped and put me on to another lead. I started looking elsewhere, and I found Dill's store mentioned in Laband & Thompson's The Buffalo Border 1879. It was situated on the Biggarsberg below the abandoned Pieters' Laager.
Now to find the culprit!
Thanks,

| Frank, There were two troops of the KDG based at Rorke’s Drift at the time of the beheading. They were active in the area of the Biggarsberg. As is evidenced by this engraving from The Graphic from 26th July 1879. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Dragoons Breaking-up Camp near the Biggarsberg I’ve also discovered some further information regarding the storekeeper Francis John Dill, formerly of PMB. | Frank,
I think the bloke was from Cumbria actually.
What I have discovered was he was cleared of murder.
