| I am very interested in learning more about Sir Robert Cordon Gilmour. Several years ago I acquired a very fine shotgun built by HJ Hussey sometime between 1907 -1910. All of HJ's guns were bespoke so I know the gun was built to someone's specifications. The family crest/coat of arms is engraved in a gold oval in the stock (see photo). [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]This is the gun, cased. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I did some research in Fairbairn's book of crests of the families of Great Britain and Ireland and the only family referencing that motto (Perseverantidabitur) is Gilmour of Craigmillar, Scotland. Researching that family name lead me to Sir Robert Gilmour. The timing would be about the time he turned 50 and his retirement from the Grenadier Guards in July of 1910 and gun would have been ordered by a man of means. Can anyone provide any additional information on Sir Gilmour? Was he a sporting gentleman? Thank you, Jay Gardner |

| Type Gilmour into the search box left handside on home page. Make sure you have click inside and not Google option. Information there. |

| Gary,
Oh yes he on page 356, where he is merely listed as Lieutenant Gordon, with no initials in the entry for the 94th Regiment.
If you have a copy of M & S that I indexed, the. look at the entry on page 384 for Lt. R. G. Gordon, and my additional note in parentheses.
There are a number of posts regarding him on the forum.

| Gary,
It was just to confuse those from the Antipodes.
Initially he was Robert Gordon Wolrige-Gordon, he changed his name in 1887 becoming Robert Gordon Gilmour.
