Trousers Black or Blue?

hi
im just wondering, what colour was a normal (private) soldiers trousers during the zulu war? in many paintings they are blue, but in films zulu and zulu dawn they are black.

ive always thought they were black, but now im starting to doubt myself...

any help would be greatly appreciated

(working on a rorkes drift command set, Lt's Chard and Bromhead and CS Bourne)

the models are very good, there in a series by Conte which consists of 6 individual sets based on the charcters in the film zulu, really quite good

They are Dark Blue in colour
