Been having a look around on google earth today and came up with the idea of making a battle map of Isandlwana with it. ( after the usual looking at my house etc Wink )
Very rough, as I was working from a hand drawn map from 'British Battles' but you get the idea of what could be done.

You are certainly gifted. I would like to see one of Ulundi. On a Google map. If Possible. But its looks impressive.

Again very rough & I'm not sure of the scale of the square ... Also seems a little odd seeing Zulu attack a airport

hi all.
I certainly never realised there is an airport basically next door to the ulundi Battlfield. Would they run
private flights to ulundi from the main cities ?. Hope our Sth African members can shed some light on this.
cheers 90th.

Sir DCC
Google earth has The square in in the wrong place, if you follow the road to the right of the runway north to the main road you have placed two arrows. The base of those arrows is actually in the memorial gardens where the square stood. The little white spot in the centre is the memorial, you will make out the path running west beyond the central memorial, that leads to the cemetary.

Cheers Neil,
If I've understood you right the square should be in the right place now. Idea

Re the comment about the airport at Ulundi, remember that Ulundi was the capital of the KwaZulu homeland before KwaZulu and Natal became a single entity. The airport basically served the government service. With the establishment of Pietermaritzburg as the capital of KwaZulu-Natal, the Ulundi airfield is hardly used.
