"62nd Regiment - Lieutenant Albert E. Whistler. He served from 1878 to 1883. In 1880 he was transferred to the 99th Foot in Natal who were, at that time, engaged in a campaign against the Zulus. [In 1881 the 62nd and the 99th became the 1st and 2nd Battalions. It is quite possible that he was an early transferee to forge a link between the two Battalions".

The Wardrobe hasn't got it right , the war was 1879 not 1880 ! , no mention of Whistler in the Forsyth Roll and he's not mentioned in the list of 88th Officers who served in the AZW of 1879 . Unless anyone can find some info on him he can be removed ? .

Cant find him if he isnt in the Zulu war rolls ! , which means he wasnt there in all probability . Especially as the officers service records are in Mackinnon & Shadbolt , and as I said he isnt in there ! ,

As thought , Whistler WASNT involved in the Zulu war of 1879 , this was pointed out to me by Petty Officer Tom , who kindly sent me the following ........... '' The Freeman's Journal . Friday , September 26 1879 ''.
