Hi littlehand

A very nice find Idea but do not believe everything you read in the newspapers :lol!:

His real name was George Eve. He was born in the parish of Dorking, Surrey. He enlisted at Reading on 18th April 1872. He was 5 feet 5 inches tall, with a fair complexion and blue eyes. His trade was that of a labourer. It is not known when he joined the Regiment. He deserted in May 1884.
