The sword has a slightly curved, single edged blade double-edged towards the point cut with a fuller running along the back edge. The blade bears the makers name, ‘HENRY WILKINSON PALL MALL LONDON’ is etched with scrolled foliate designs and with Colonel Howards monogram and family motto ‘HRLH VIGILANDO VICTOR’. The sword has a three bar guard with steel back-strap and wire bound fish skin grip, complete in original steel scabbard with contemporary field repair. The sword bears Wilkinsons number 18140. S

Now thats an absolutely cracking blade, many thanks indeed for sharing images. Exactly the type of sword I look for, beautiful and with great history. The number dates it to 1871.

Hi Littlehand,

Many thanks for the welcome, and the link to the revolver. I own a similar one, but with a patent rammer. I would dearly love the later cartridge version.

Do you own the sword in the thread?

Kind regards,

Monty
