Anyone ever heard of this award.

THE HITCH AWARD

The Hitch Award for Bravery is named after Private Fredrick Hitch, of 'B' Company. 24th Regiment of Foot, South Wales Borderers. Hitch was a Rifleman, awarded the Victoria Cross during the Zulu War for Valour after the battle of Rorkes Drift, Natal Province, in South Africa. Hitch later went on to become a London Licensed Hackney Carriage Driver.

Hi Impi.
This has been discussed on the forum before (I Think ) Members who work in London asked some of the Cabbies if they had heard of the Hitch Award. None of them knew who Hitch was let alone the award. However this recent award may have brought the Hitch award back to the surface. (Good post old chap) Idea

I really thought this award had been faded away into the History Books of the Hackney Carriages. But it’s a pleasant surprise to see it is still being awarded. Idea
