Surname: Boldero, First Names : Harry Stuart Date promoted : Midshipman: 24/10/1878 Date of Navy List - Appointment and date: June 1879 : 071 - Boadicea 24 Oct 78 Scottish-born Lieutenant Boldero, who served aboard the H.M.S. Britannia, Boadicea,Falcon, Pilot, Iron Duke, and Emerald. It was aboard the Emerald, serving as one of the ship's navigators, that Boldero spent considerable time in and around Newfoundland, visiting St. John's several times, and coming down the coast to Halifax on many occasions as well, once being detained due to heavy fog, which coincided with the end of the sealing season, which made Halifax Harbour nearly impassable for several days. _________________ Remember all who fell during the Zulu War of 1879[i]
