PostSubject: Missing in action   Missing in action EmptyFri Feb 17, 2012 9:01 pm

Can anyone define "Missing In Action" in the Anglo Zulu War. I find it hard to see how anyone went missing in action, unless they deserted. I have read 54 were recorded as missing in action. I can understand thIs meaning in WW1 & WW2 due to the weapons used in that period. But the Zulu War when all the enermy had was handheld weapons. Perhaps it's just me but I cannot see how they went missing.

PS. Zulu's missing in action. I can understand bearing in mind the weapons the British had. ( Artillery )

Impi. Perhaps it was those who were unluckily enough to get captured and disposed of by the Zulu's I do recall reading that body parts were used in doctoring Zulu warriors. It which case they would have been dismembered bit taken the rest buried or burned. Just a thought.....

Hi all

And those that were not found in the body can be considered as disparus.Cette expression was not in use at that time, at that time, no body = death ...

Yet with Mr. Grandier ...

Cheers
