Blue Plaques related to the Zulu War Empty
PostSubject: Blue Plaques related to the Zulu War   Blue Plaques related to the Zulu War EmptyFri Jan 14, 2011 10:40 pm

I have come across several individual references ro the erection of blue plaques to indicate where individuals lived with links to the Zulu war. is there a definitive list anywhere?

The plaques I have come across are:-

Cetshwayo - 18 Melbury Road W14
William Cooper - 6 Cranmer Road Worthing.
Frederick Hitch - 62 Cranbrook Road London

I am sure there must be others.

I thought as much, thanks.

I am a volunteer on the blue plaques web site openplaques.org, so this thread was interesting to me. Of those mentioned, we have:

Cetshwayo [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
William Cooper [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Frederick Hitch [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Frank Bourne [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

There is one for Ivor Rees [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] but we only really collect the ones that mark where something happened (like 'born here', 'lived here', etc.)

I'd be interested if anyone has photographic evidence of a plaque to John Chard in Rochester Kent.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] says there is one for Thomas Collins in Pelcomb but I can't pinpoint the exact location
