I have just received a copy of " In ZuluLand With The British Army" Charles Norris-Newman.

My question is can we take News Correspondents seriously. Based on what we know about the media today. Did Norris-Newman write it as it really was,or did he write it to satify the public.

He state's
" They say "self- praise is no recommendation," but I must, in all fairness to my readers, explain that I Was the first and only official appointed special correspondent that was in the field with the troops during the early days of preparations and our first entry into Zululand."

Just out of curiosity, was Newman's relationship with Chelmsford the same as portrayed in the film Zulu Dawn.

Hi Mr. Greaves.
I have the Norris - Newman book but I read it a couple of years ago but thought it was very good . How he describes what he see's
when he gets to Isandlwana a few weeks after the battle , to me it was worth the price of the book alone !. Cant remember what his
relationship with The Good Lord was like .I dont think it was like Zulu Dawn from memory . Not sure they had much to do with each other . I may have mentioned what I thought of the book way back in the early days of the forum more than likely in the Books , Publications section .
cheers 90th.
