| The queen wanted the prime minister to meet Lord C and show surport when he arrived back in England and hear his version of events, a few kind words to help the General.
The prime minister replied
That he charged Lord C with invading a countrey without knolage of the countrey, bad planning, no preparation or precortion. He would not meet with such a man.
He seems to have got it right
Cheers

| Hi DB13 Bravo, once again.! It is a pity that Chelmsfords real "reputation" in the eyes of British government of the time seems so obscure to some modern day historians. This man caused the unnecessary death of many of our countrymen and brought the entire Empire into disrepute. : regards barry

| Another good posting from DB14
And I totally agree with Barry.
Frere and Chelmsford between them, caused the unnecessary deaths and suffering of thousands of lives, and all without the British government or the British people knowing anything about it. How these two morons slept at night is beyond me. |

Hi Martin, Bravo. As todays lawyers would say "these two were on a private frolick". At everyone else's cost, of course.

| Hi Barry, Martin and Sam...
Well, I'm counting to see, with three you, we are to have four all-inclusive on this forum ...
It's still not much...
But if like me you had heard the speech of the future Prime Minister Gladstone, he was the greatest defender of Zulu ...
Cheers

| Hi all
The person responsible is not Chelmsford, but Frere who wanted to unify all of Africa's sud.On saw the result in the twentieth century.
The Prime Minister has lost his ministry and his health with the case of the Zulu war ...
And look the history of the zulus after...
How colonial war, massacres, concentration camps to create South Africa ?
And It's the same misery with the history of the Rhodesia...
See the result now ...
Cheers
