| Hello DAVID-LL
What was your grandfathers brothers Christian name/s and surname?
The reason I ask is, could they have been half brothers with different surnames?
Regards
Martin. |

| Hello again David I have found a PDF file, The London Gazette, Dated March 21st 1879. It shows a Lt George Stanhope Banister, to be promoted to captain, vice J.F. Caldwell. 5th Feb 1879. They might have mis-spelled the Surname (no d in Standhope), but it seems a strange co-incidence to be promoted on the 5th Feb, yet you say he died on the 5th Feb. Hope this helps in some way. Martin. |
