Hi Tasker .
Another reason you should invest in the medal roll   , in the roll listed under - Tshumie Volunteers ; Also shown as
Tshumie Native Levy .
Lt . Dorrington , J. clasp 77 -78 . 153 Medals issued , 142 Medals & Clasps returned to Woolwich / Mint . Clasp 77-78 ; 153 .
So we have one of 11 that werent returned to the mint , pity its in such a poor state .
cheers 90th Salute

Hi 90th, yes. But we don't need the medal roll when we have you around! Besides, the missus has ring fenced the money and put me down for top dressing duty and has vetoed the medal roll with her casting vote. I have accepted her decision with good grace as I am in the dog house at the mo' in any case.
Still, a very desirable medal. The medal's condition is not too important to me as long as the name on the rim is legible and original.
The battered state of this example and the brooching is all part of its history. At least it wasn't returned to the mint and as you say it is one of only 11 in existence.
I will PM you.

Many thanks for the reply Gary, your opinion is always of great value. Salute

Tasker

Just wanted to ask everyone:-

Does anyone know how much action and which action(s) - if any - this particular unit saw?

Tshumie Volunteers, allso known as the Tshumie Native Levy .

I am out at £150. Already up to £175 with a few days to go.
See, the rarity is of interest and value, even in that condition! I reckon it'll go for at least £300.

One of only 11 medals to this unit - and they are not issuing any more of them!
