Last Zulu War Veteran to die in Durban

Can anyone confirm. William BOTTERILL was the last Zulu War Veteran to die in Durban, 1957. He was also Sir George White's batman. I sent an e-mail to a Kathryn Bax Who posted this on another forum in 2004. No reply....??

In D.R. Forsyth's Medal Roll, he is listed as Private W Bothrell, 58th Regiment.

Having looked on the 58th Regiment Medal Roll, you can see how the mistake has happened.

The only other information I can find is

A William Botterill, born 1860, died 1947, member of 1st Royal Inniskillings (Zulu War veteran) buried Military Cemetery, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.

Thanks for the kind comments.

I wish I did have all the medal rolls for each regiment that took part. I only have want is available on the market.

The 17th Lancers roll I have is very much incomplete. There are big sections missing.

The colonial rolls are also incomplete as they have all been destroyed.
