"Alexander W. D. Maclean was born at Bristol, on February 6th, 1858. He was educated at Clifton College, and prepared for the army at Sandhurst. He entered the 94th regiment, or Connaught Rangers, in 1878. He became a lieutenant in 1879, and was in the same year in the Zulu War. He was promoted to the rank of captain in 1883, and to that of major in 1893. He was for five years adjutant of the 3d battalion of his regiment at Castlebar in Ireland, and was highly esteemed by all classes. He married in July, 1889, Rose - Eaden - Abinger, daughter of Admiral William Fenwick. He is at the present time commandant at Kailana in India".

Lt.Alexander W.D.Maclean 94th Regt served during the war , proceeding in April on detatchment to Greytown , Maclean later joined the Hd - Qtrs at Zlobane and subsequently served with the Regt throughout the Sekukuni Campaign . He's also in John ! .
