Zulu Dawn:Col. Durnford: Sergeant, you're to ride back to Natal. When you see the Bishop tell him, that is, tell his daughter, that I was obliged to remain here with my infantry. Now go. God go with you. Sgt. Maj. Kambula: I leave God Jesus with you.

Great read.
I was particularly entertained by the fact that I could easily have taken the gold medal in the marathon in 1904; and i am particularly interested in the women's boxing and the Indian Club Swinging - need to find out more about this!

So they didn't do drug testing in 1904. Sounds like he was a very luckly man...

"Englishman named Thomas Hicks who clocked in at three and a half hours. However, Hicks was also sick from the heat. To keep him going, his handlers gave him sponge baths and periodically administered a drink made of strychnine, brandy, and raw egg."

So they had Zulu's who threw spears at the Brits at I"sandlwana", and Indians who shot arrows at Custer "Little Bighorn" Shocked

You have to admire the posture of the Zulu throwing the spear.
