How were dressed, equipped and armed, the only black officer of each company of the infantry regiments of the NNC in January 1879 ?

Could be wrong, but I don't think there were any mounted native officers in the NNC

D'after Ian Castle, there was one per infantry company of the NNC, 70 in total in January 1879 ...
