| 'The tribe that washed its spears.' Sounds a bit familiar ! Without wishing to prejudge it has all the potential of emulating its predecessor in selective judgements. ( No prizes for guessing that he isnt my favourite author)
Cheers |

| I find Dr Greaves books are very good. Very informative. And well presented. Still we all have an opinion. |

| Hi Martin Still researching a couple of areas, in particular the opening action on the Nyoni heights and who did what to whom ( That sounds as though it should have a begining like, There was a young lady from Khartoum, or such like) |

Didn't know you are a writer. I'll look forward to it. Do give a pointer as I'm sure you don't publish under the name springbok9! |

| Whilst looking for new material I chanced on this one on the publisher's website. In their blurb is the following statement: - Pen & Sword wrote:
- …They then became victims of their own success in that their defeat of the Boers in 1877 and 1878 in the Sekunini War prompted the well-documented British intervention…
To my knowledge the amaZulu of King Cetshwayo kaMpande had nothing to do with the campaign fought by Sekhukhune and his baPedi against the Transvaal Republic. Most odd! 'Jimu |

| Dave,
Do you have the book? If so give me a hint, otherwise I'll look in a bookshop before I buy based on past experience especially with 'Forgotten Battles...'

"Book Description Publication Date: 31 May 2013 This authoritative, yet hugely readable, book traces the history of the Zulus from their arrival in South Africa - they were not indigenous as were the Koi and San population - and the establishment of Zululand. It describes the violent rise of King Shaka and his colourful successors under whose leadership the warrior nation built its fiercesome reputation. It studies the tactics and weapons employed during the numerous inter-tribal battles that occurred. The Zulus' real struggle for survival, rather than supremacy, came in wars against the white settlers. In 1877/78 they defeated the Boers in the Sekunini War and this prompted British intervention. Initially the might of the British empire was humbled but the 1879 war, despite the shock Zulu victory at Isandlwana, saw the crushing of the Zulu Nation. The little known consequences of the division of Zululand, the Boer War and the 1906 Zulu Rebellion are analysed in fascinating detail" |

| Ray63,
That's a direct lift from the publishers website, with the same mystifying statement that I highlighted above.
