"LIEUTENANT-COLONEL KENNETH SERJEANT WALLIS, R.A.M.C, died at his residence, in Hastings, on May 2nd at the age of 52. Colonel Wallis entered the medical service of thearmy in I878, becoming
Burgeon-Major in I880 and Lieutenant- Colonel in I898. He served in the Zulu war of I879 and in the subsequent operations against Sekukuni, including the storming of the stronghold, where he was slightly wounded (medal with clasp). In the Boer war of 1880-I he was in medical charge of the garrison at Potchefstroom during its investment, and was again slightly wounded. He served with the Nile Expedition in I884-5, where he was in charge of the movable field hospital, and was present in the reconnaissance
to Metammeh (medal with clasp and Khedive's star)".

He is in the Forsyth Medal Roll listed under Surgeon . He is also in Mackinnon & Shadbolt under Surgeon , no other information.

He left Southampton on the 26th of February aboard the ‘China’ and called at St Vincent leaving there on 9th of March and after calling briefly at Simon’s Bay on the 29th of March disembarked at Durban with a detachment of 6 officers and 150 men of the 57th Regiment, and 28 officer, 897 men and 5 horses of the 94th Regiment.

Date of Birth -16th July 1852
Surgeon - 4th August 1878
South African War - 1879-81 - operations against Sekukuni (wounded) Despatches, London Gazette, 16th January 1880. Transvaal Campaign Defence of Potchefstroom, Mentioned in Despatches.
Source ‘1884 Army List’ (p 983 & 1394)

(6th April 1879 to 10th January 1882). Campaigns - Sekhukhune November 1879, Wounded in Action at Sekhukhune’s kraal, 28th November 1879. Died 2nd May 1905, Hastings. Medals South Africa Medal with clasp 1879, Egyptian War Medal with clasp 85-86, Khedive Star.

He was born in Cambridge and in 1901 he was living in Bexhill, Sussex as a Colonel age 48.
