Admin I must protest! You clearly stated that you would monitor the discussion, yet for no apparent reason you have locked it. Enough members had enough to say, even though they hadn't received the publication supposedly showing David Jenkins to be present. That alone prove's the topic was still very active. Julian for whatever reason asks for the topic to be locked for two weeks, followed by an agreement by Xhosa, who is normally harping on about freedom of speech and censoring. I feel i'm in my right to ask you for an explanation, at your earliest convenience. Mad

Admin.
Well done for locking this. It's become uninformative and very, very tedious.

A very proactive response at normal from runner2. Who didn't contribute in anyway to the discussion in question?

I must agree with admin in this case.
CTSG - the reason the topic has been locked is plain to see for most. It is clearly because of the unhelpful and tedious comments from yourself and others that border on the ignorant and are disrespectful to Whybra, David Jenkins and the Brecon Museum.
I apologise in advance if you find this comment arrogant, rude or disrepectful to you, but I can assure you I certainly do not intend that, but sometimes, the truth can hurt.
I respect you as a senior member of this forum and I usually enjoy your posts hugely and find them both amusing and informative (but I have to admit on this topic, you have lost me). I have learned a huge amount from you already.

I reckon everyone should calm down, read the essay by Whybra re Jenkins, and come back in a few weeks time after they have read it and are properly informed. I think everyone needs this time to do just that and this is why I think it is a good idea to temporarily lock the David Jenkins topic.

Never mind all that senior member crap. A discussion was taking place regarding a man " David Jenkings" being added to the roll of defenders at Rorkesdrift. Julian was giving as good as he got, in an orderly fashion, as far as I'm concerned. The fact is because certain members don't agree with Julian Wybra, they are looked down upon. For some unknown reason certain members think by agreeing with Julian they will get them some sort of status. You are all very small minded people who can not see outside of Julian Whyba's world of fantasy at being the most leading authority on the Zulu War.

In my head I have this image of him, in a blue romper suit, sucking a dummy, jumping up and down, when things don't go his way. Cut him in half he would read like a stick of rock,  Arrogant all the way though.

But remember, whatever evidence he's has found, means nothing. Because Jenkins is not on any offical accounts.

You are making an awful lot of assumptions there CTSG, about an awful lot of people who you don't know.

But I think I can finallay see where you are coming from. You have an issue with Julian Whybra, not the topic that is being debated!

"But remember, whatever evidence he's has found, means nothing. Because Jenkins is not on any offical accounts."
And this is the proof that you have made your mind up on the matter, before you have even looked at this new found evidence for yourself! "Official accounts" can lay undiscovered for decades, centuries. Historians dig them up, they don't make them up!
Quite an extraordinary statement, CTSG! You may as well say that your mind has closed on this topic! If Whybra has found the earliest ever roll for Rorke's Drift, signed by Lord Chelmsford and Queen Victoria themselves with gold, diamond encrusted knobs on top, you are just going to deny that it is "official" - whatever "official" means?

CTSG This topic you started answers your question, as to why the other one was locked.

PS. As this topic is going down the same route as the other, I'm locking this one as well!  I'm more than happy to carry on this discussion via the on board PM facility.
