"Major Edmond Munkhouse Wilson, R.A.M.C., who entered the service in July, 1881, was promoted Surgeon-Major in July, 1893. He served during the Zulu war of 1879 as Civil Surgeon, and received the medal and clasp. He served with the Nile expedition of 1884-85, and received the medal and clasp and the Khedive's star, and also with the EgyptianFrontier Field Force in 1885-86.
He served with the expedition to Ashanti in 1895, where he was in charge of the base hospital, and for his services on that occasion he received the Companionship of the Order of St. Michael and St. George,and the star. During the recent operations he acted as Secretary to the Principal Medical Officer, Surgeon-General Taylor."

"WILSON, EDMOND MUNKHOUSE, Major, was born 4 October 1855, at Oundle, Northamptonshire, youngest son of C T Wilson. He was educated at Sherborne and St George's Hospital (MRCS, England, LRCP, London; DPH, Cambridge). He served as a Civil Surgeon in the Zulu War, receiving the Medal and clasp, and joined the Army 30 July 1881, serving in the Sudan Expedition, 1884-85 (Nile Medal and clasp; Bronze Star). In the Sudan in 1885-8G, he served with the Frontier Field Force. He served in the expedition up the Gambia against the Native Chief, Fodey Kabba, 1891-92. He became Major 30 July 1893. In the Ashanti Expedition, Major Wilson was in command of a base hospital; was honourably mentioned; created a CMG, and received the Star. He served in the Nile Expedition of 1898, and was present at the Battle of Khartoum; was mentioned in Despatches [London Gazette, 30 September 1898]; received the Egyptian Medal with clasp, and was created a Companion of the Distinguished Service Order [London Gazette, 15 November 1898]: "Edmond Munkhouse Wilson, CMG, Major, Royal Army Medical Corps. In recognition of services during the recent operations in the Sudan". The Insignia were presented by the Queen at Windsor 1 December 1898. Lieutenant Colonel Wilson was Director-General of AMS at, Headquarters, 1899 to 23 September 1904, when he retired from the RAMC. He was created a CB in 1902. He was at the RAMC Record Office, 1905 to 1913, and 1914 to 1916. He wrote "Notes on Malarial Fever in connection with Meteorological Conditions at Sierra Leone, 1896-98'.

"Lt Col Edmond Munkhouse Wilson was educated at St George's Hospital London. He qualified MRCS (England) in 1877 and LRCP London in 1878. He was House Surgeon at the West London Hospital (1877–1878).

Edmond Munkhouse Wilson entered the army as surgeon on 30 July 1881. He was promoted Surgeon-Major in July 1893. He served during the Zulu war of 1879 as Civil Surgeon, and received the medal and clasp. He served with the Nile expedition of 1884–1885, and received the medal and clasp and the Khedive's star, and also with the Egyptian Frontier Field Force in 1885–1886. He served with the expedition to Ashanti in 1895, where he was in charge of the base hospital, and for his services on that occasion he received the Companionship of the Order of St Michael and St George and the Star. During this expedition he acted as Secretary to the Principal Medical Officer, Surgeon-General Taylor.

From 1899 to 1904 Lt Col Edmond Munkhouse Wilson was Deputy Assistant Director-General at the War Office. After retirement he was employed at the military prison, Aldershot, in 1904–1905. From 1904 to 1913 he was as assistant officer in charge of RAMC records at Aldershot. In 1914, he rejoined for service during the war. He received the Civil CB in 1902 and in 1903, was appointed Knight of Grace of the Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem in England.

For several years, Lt Col Edmond Munkhouse Wilson was the representative of the Army Medical Service on the Central Council of the British Medical Association. In 1918–1919 he was President of the West London Medico-Chirurgical Society. He was also secretary of the RAMC Fund and Benevolent Society. He died in Queen Alexandra's Military Hospital, Millbank, aged 66 years"

30 July 1893 Surgeon-Major.

1895–1896 Served in the Ashanti Expedition in command of a base hospital.

22 Dec 1895 Was commended in a letter from the PMO Ashanti Field Force.

10 Apr 1896 Appointed an Ordinary Member of the Third Class or Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George in recognition of his services in the Expedition to Ashanti.

15 Nov 1898 Awarded the Distinguished Service Order in recognition of his services in the Battle of Khartoun, Sudan.

2 Oct 1899–28 Sept 1904 Deputy Assistant Director General War Office.

30 July 1901 Promoted Lieutenant Colonel RAMC after twenty years' service.

22 Aug 1902 Elected Member of the Civil Division of the Third Class or Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath for his services in South Africa.

1903 Elected a Knight of Grace Order of St John of Jerusalem.

28 Sept 1904 Retired. Employed when on the retired list at the Military Prison Aldershot (1904–1905)

1905–1913 Assistant Officer in charge of RAMC Records Aldershot.

1914 Re-employed during the Great War.
