Chislehurst Common east side of road on edge of woodland, facing southern end of Wilderness Road and Camden Place.


Inscriptions:
Excised carved lettering on south side of square block at base of shaft: NAPOLEON / EUGÈNE LOUIS JEAN JOSEPH / PRINCE IMPERIAL / KILLED IN ZULULAND / 1st JUNE 1879. Excised carved lettering on north side of square block below shaft: "I SHALL DIE WITH A SENTIMENT / OF PROFOUND GRATITUDE FOR HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN OF ENGLAND; / FOR ALL THE ROYAL FAMILY AND FOR / THE COUNTRY WHERE I HAVE RECEIVED / DURING EIGHT YEARS SUCH CORDIAL / HOSPITALITY". / (LAST TESTAMENT OF THE PRINCE) [in italic capitals] / IN MEMORY OF / THE PRINCE IMPERIAL. / AND IN SORROW AT HIS DEATH. / THIS CROSS IS ERECTED / BY THE DWELLERS AT CHISLEHURST. / AO. DI. 1880
