Hi

As I know the British love animals, what is the total loss of horses, mules and dogs in the battle of Isandhlwana ?

There was never any accounting on this military equipment ?

And how many were there at Isandhlwana ?

Cheers

Pascal

Hi Rascal .
I think it's impossible to quote the numbers you seek , many records were lost at Isandlwana , and I doubt the keeping of records regarding animals or soldiers dogs was high on the Qtr masters list / lists .

Many men have been saved by a poor animal, and none animal has been decorated for this?Wink

Rascal there are several instances regarding dogs who had survived Isandlwana and turned feral within weeks of the battle . From memory Maxwell , ( NNC ) states they were forced to shoot some of the officer's dogs from Isandlwana when they thought that the dogs may attack them. Ian Knight mentions these Feral dogs in ' Zulu Rising ' from memory, and also in his ' Companion To The Zulu War '. Salute
