Hi all

Without the cleaning opérations of Durnford who caused the massacre that everyone knows, the Zulu army could not attack the camp ...

Therefore Durnford had finally joined the poor Lord Chelmsford and Pulleine (at the very beginning of the real Zulu attack) had just received a message, asking him to join the poor Lord Chelmsford ...

In this case, the Zulu commander would have done what ? (knowing well that he should not attack the 22 ...)

That's a good question! I think this has been asked before. What would the Zulu's have done if the whole camp had moved to join Chelmsford? The gates to Natal would have been open, albeit. RD in the way. But that wound not have been a problem, as they would have been caught off guard, as would Natal. And there woundn't be a lot LC could have done. And of course RD would have supplied Rifles and a ample supply of ammunition!

Hmmm. Inyezane and Isandhlwana! was this a co ordinated
attack?..showing who was the real driving force on the 22ND!.
capitals to indicate that the actions on that day were pre
planned to a degree, sort of along the lines of..Zulu Commander's
to each other..if you kick off then we will support each other..

If this hadn't happen,"Inyezane" I would be more inclined to go with the Moon theory. And the attack taking place on the 23rd.

Inyezane barely ever gets a mention, we
have the 2nd column and the third attacked
virtually at the same time thirty odd miles apart
and no body questions this! re, again..the
the possibility of decoy's and pre planning..

I've read recently in Knight ? and Smith that the '' Moon Theory '' although not ideal wasnt the reason to hold back the attack till the 23rd , it was more a case of giving the impi time to rest and go through all the proper doctoring / cleansing ceremonies etc .
As the attacks did take place on the 22nd when circumstances provided , more than likely both these actions were started when the Impi's were prematurely discovered by Colonial troops , and in which , the zulu rank and file decided to attack without the sanctioning of their commanders .

Would agree, if they had stayed in the valley, to do the necessary! But they were on the move in the early hours of the morning of the 22nd. So it appears the doctoring, and new moon ect was just a load of mumbo jumbo! Along with the evil omens with regards to fighting at night. All decoy statements to hide the fact, the attack was planned for the 22nd Jan 1879.

3 / In their movement to join the Poor Lord Chelmsford, Durnford and Pulleine would they stay together?

The Zulu royal army would have followed on 22 and the 23 in the morning , she would attack Pulleine ...

4/But how far of the Poor Lord Chelmsford, the Zulu royal army would have attacked Pulleine?

5 / And the Poor Lord Chelmsford, had he been near enough of Pulleine to be warned in time and rescue?
