Hi all

The pouch system of the NCO's and men of the 3/60 Rifles was the same as for the line infantry and light infantry ,but

I wonder if they would rather not wear their "expense" pouch in the back , rather than in front ?

And for the other battalions, there were Particular traditions for how to wear their expense pouch...?

Cheers

Hi all

Well, Sergeant ! We put or not , our bayonets ?

When the imperial infantry is controled, the soldiers opened fire with or without the bayonet fixed ...?

Cheers

Pascal,

This how the expense pouch should be worn with 1871 Equipment.

I can think of no reason for the 3rd/60th to be different to all the rest.

By-the-way Riflemen don't Fix Bayonets, they Fix Swords.

Thank you, John, it is true they had magnificent sword bayonets ,like the sergeants of line and light infantry ...

John , I am reminded of these days, someone had said or written that some battalions wore their expense pouch at the place where they carried their valises ...

I found, but I do recall me or I've seen illustrations showing this ...

To particularize of the other battalions, some may have to be done this :

"the expense pouch was often therefore carried in place of the valise" page 17 in British forces in Zululand 1879 by IK
