| Watch this. Guess it is named that way because, by the time the Queen's Colour was laid up in 1933, it belonged to the 1st Btn. SWB. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Steve |

| You set of absolute stinkers. But can anyone see the name 24th (2nd Warwickshire) regiment of foot on there? NO!!! Even though it had this title for the best part of 100 years, longer than any other title in its entire history, notice how it has been replaced by just '24th foot', leading the reader to assume/believe that the 24th foot has always been a welsh regiment, clever tactic eh? Anyway, you all know by now that the swb was NEVER the 24th foot, because all the line numbers ended and new names were given in 1881, therefor the swb was just the swb and NEVER the 24th foot. The last British infantry regiment to have the line number 24 in its title was indeed The 24th (2nd Warwickshire) regiment of foot. The colours being laid up belonged to the 24th (2nd Warwickshire) regiment, they were only on loan to the virtually new regiment called the swb, also all pre 1881 honours and achievements belong to the old regiment, the new regiment are only looking after them, they are not really theirs. If no one else will uphold the honour of the 24th (2nd Warwickshire) regiment and the brave lads that fought in its ranks, then so be it, but I will ALWAYS be there for them, well, at least until I pop my clogs. Apoplexy indeed, cheeky sodhopper Long live the memory of the 24th (2nd Warwickshire) regiment |

Martin old mate. Your not alone. The SWB are upholding their honour. |

| Hi 24th.
I know what you are trying to say, however, the swb ended in 1969 when it was amalgamated with the welch regiment and became the rrw, and it is now (after further amalgamations) called the rw. Also if you read the original post (attachment) by springy, you will see that there is NO mention whatsoever of the 2nd Warwickshire regiment, the name has been totally ignored and substituted by just putting 24th foot, which was the title for just 31 years (1751-1782), it then became the 24th (2nd Warwickshire) regiment and held this title for the best part of 100 years until the reforms of 1881 when the line numbers ended and the regiments were given new names, making them virtually 'new' regiments. So by just putting 24th foot and avoiding putting 2nd Warwickshire regiment, this infers the regiment from 1751-1782, and by leaving out its full title they are leading the reader to assume/believe that the regiment has always been welsh, which it has not (and neither have any other of the regiments that now make up the rw), it's a clever tactic that is used to avoid giving the public the real full name of the regiment. So by not giving the full and proper title of the regiment, they are therefor NOT upholding the honour of the 24th (2nd Warwickshire) regiment at all, but deliberately avoiding it. |
