hi, i am new to your very interesting forum and am seeking any information relating to cpl sellwood 17th lancers I am in possession of his 1879 medal which was given to me by my father some 30 odd years ago, i am not related in any way but wish to find out more about him. Any information would be gratefully received

Thank you 1879 graves, very much for all the information posted. Most interesting is the birth parish, as my father first came into possession of the medal in Bournemouth so not far from dorchester all very interesting information many thanks
