Hi LH, yes i think i have seen it, that was a lucky lad,
he did'nt get shot and had a career in the Royal Navy,
but black people were serving in the Navy even back

There has been discussion about the zulu lad being dragged into the shelter trench at Gingindlovhu , and yes, it seems he was pressed into the RN. I think he may have also gone to the UK ? . It's on here for sure , possibly under a Gingindlovhu thread , I think I posted something about it a couple , if not more years back !.
