Hexwarrior 2D turn-based Hex&Chit Freebie,Rorkes Drift & 2 others

Hi I was recommended to join here as I had made a wargame with some content to do with the AZW , its just been put on grognard Dot Com update its called Hexwarrior, Im at version 588, and that's Final. Im new to these forums so I don't know how welcome I will be giving you a game, but grognard is a well respected wargame website, they do checks on the game before they publish. I do hope you will accept the spirit in which Im giving it away to wargamers completely free.

Welcome to the forum Mark. No we have quite a few members interested in wargaming. Do we just need to search for Hexwarrior?

I'm a hex wargamer. Have been since the 70's. At it's most obsessive, the demand for accuracy on this site far exceeds even the most punctilious wargame developer and designer...particularly where it comes to citing primary sources, eh Chard?

Seriously, multiple historians with a specific expertise on the AZW drop in and comment from time to time. I thought I was hardened to the demands of hardcore history buffs until I came here. Boy, was it ever an eye opener to follow the depth of the debates here. Anyone who wishes to publish on this topic -- game or otherwise -- will profit by looking up past threads touching on topics of interest. But be warned, this is not the target audience for wargame designers. Most guys who play hex based wargames read maybe ONE book on the topic (typically Morris)...or get their information from History Channel documentaries and the film ZULU.

The guys (for I think they are all men) who get passionate here have LIBRARIES of information just on the AZW or just on Isandlwana/Rorke's Drift...and some of them collect actual artifacts, medals and weapons.

Or let me put it another way. I collected as many wargames on Isandlwana as I could find before coming here. Where it comes to historical accuracy none of them has made the grade so far...and really...few are even close. So forewarned is forearmed.

6pdr thanks for the direction on the subject, the game has an A.I. That I realy enjoy, but the solo solitaire version included sounds like it would be suitable to some. The solo version enforces rules, its a generic system that can be adapted to a lot of situations.I may not know what the exact setup would be and I'm no Proffessor on AZW and Im only a low level solo wargamer of sorts, all I can promise is I tried to allow Many ways to setup a game.

I am experienced in programming , I tried to give the options in the setup editor to adjust to what is needed, I would realy be excited to see a proper module done for Hexwarrior, Anyone reading if you give a try at makeing a module and have any Questions I will help.

Ah, I see. Well, I was only referencing paper-based games so that's a different kettle of fish altogether.

Welcome Gameleaper , your knowledge of the AZW will certainly broaden if you have an interest in its place in history , and wish to learn a bit more about it , and those who took part . . I'm not a gamer but there is certainly room for ' ALL ' on here that's for sure !

Im glad I found this site, I can see it will be involving. thanks again for the welcome.

I got into gameming when I had no money at all, I first learned chess, then got interested in wargames hex&chit miniature etc... I have been programming for 35 years, so it was a short step to start programming a wargame, you may see on the grognard Dot com Ive done another game WarTactical that also has Rorkes Drift, I got the Map from a hand drawn original and some of the unit positions etc....

there both at the grognard.com site and they check it properly before allowing a program on their site, I had to alter a program just to have it on grognard , so I hope the links save you from hunting them down
