| Your welcome.
Interesting thought about finding a British Catalogue of that date 90th. I am not at all sure that the British Government would have contemplated selling surplus weapons to the public even then. The Fenians and Anarchists were seen to pose a threat I suppose. But I don't really know. In the US there was no such constraint then or now!

| Hi Steve . Yes , I was merely thinking aloud , I dont remember the British selling any military items what so ever to the public in that era ! I suppose they had Army Disposal stores like we did out here in the 60 - 80's where you could buy .303's with Ammo , Australian and American Uniforms from WW2 etc etc , there was one such store in my suburb in the 70's . I remember I purchased a pair of American canvas long boots ( Jungle Green ) , although , not war vintage but they sold them in the store ( new) . Those were the days , I remember working in Melbourne just after I left school and walking into an Army Disposal store , and there in front of me were 6 or so Lee Enfield 303's standing in a rack on the floor , I was going to buy one but changed my mind , it would've set me back only $ 30 . I seem to think the Ammunition was a bit pricey , that was probably the reason I didnt buy it ! . Although , they have been banned out here since the late 80's or early 90's , all firearms are banned to the general public , unless you are a member of a registered shooting club or hold an Antique Licence or something similar ! . Times have changed in the last 35 or so years . My mate and I at the time did eventually buy a .22 Rifle each , we jumped on the train with the rifles ( In Their Leather cases ) took them to a gun shop to get Telescopic sights fitted , which was about 8 stations away and in those days no-one bothered to bat an eyelid ! , do it know and you'd be shot by a swat team or something similar , the musings from the good old days , sorry to go on . LOL. 90th |

| Back in the early 60s we had WW1 Lee Enfields in the school Army Cadet Corps, some WW2, and a Bren Gun. And we fired live ammo sometimes ! I remember the Bren would also fire a school pencil with some force. Horrific when you think about it. Health and Safety didn't operate in those days - don't know how we survived.

I remember they went on camps , did drill in the school yard , uniforms , weapons the whole box and dice I couldnt wait ! No LOL . 90th |

| I moved to the RAF section after the Army and they took us up in DeHaviland Chipmunks. The parachute and life jacket were bigger than I was! Once at camp at RAF St Mawgan we went on a patrol in a Shackleton - the post war version of a Lancaster Bomber - Incredible stuff !

| these catalogs are the things that dreams are made of. my uncle told me stories about going into bannerman's store and seeing knives and bayonets on display just stuck into the floor. |
