Hi Ulundi

There is a Private L.R. Gordon, Pietermaritzburg Rifles.

This unit did not cross into Zululand, so Medal issued without Clasp.

So I am going to say yes he did take part in the Zulu War and was entitled to a Medal.

Ulundi
As I posted earlier Rotheby's Horse & Burrows Horse were not in existance in 1879 , most certainly they did not take part in the zulu war , as opposed to what your newspaper article has printed , the only reason these unit names are listed , is perhaps the unit had a name change after the zulu war ???. These Units are not on the Roll for the South African War Medal 1877-78-79 by Forsyth .
