| Brig.-Gen. Lionel Godolphin Brooke was born on 19th May 1849.He was the son of George Augustus Frederick Brooke and Lady Arabella Georgina Hastings.He married, firstly, Emma Adelaide Christina Taylour, daughter of Maj.-Gen. Lord John Henry Taylour and Mary Hammond Macfarlane, on 28 November 1881.2 He married, secondly, Gertrude Isabella Goodeve, daughter of Colonel Henry Mills Goodeve, on 30th April 1895. He died on 10th June 1931 at age 82. Brig.-Gen. Lionel Godolphin Brooke gained the rank of Brigadier-General in the service of the Connaught Rangers. He fought in the Zulu War in 1879.2 He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1900. He was invested as a Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1900. He was commander of the Brigade T.F. between 1908 and 1910.

Despatches, London Gazette, 21st August 1879. Medal with Clasp.
