EVENTS FOR SIBANYE
King Cetshwayo 135th Celebrations in Wales August/September 2017 organised by The Friends of The Royal Welsh Regimental Museum in partnership with KwaCulture and Maluju Charity

FRIDAY/SUNDAY, 11-13TH AUGUST BRECON JAZZ- 10 young South African jazz players will be flying over from South Africa to take part in the festival.

WEDNESDAY/THURSDAY/FRIDAY, 23RD, 24TH, 25TH AUGUST ZULU THE MUSICAL IN THEATR BRYCHEINIOG- 40 South African players will be acting in this amazing musical which has toured South Africa.

SATURDAY 26TH AUGUST THE LAUNCH OF SIBANYE- 12 NOON IN THE MUSEUM.

SATURDAY 26TH AUGUST â GRAND CONCERT IN BRECON CATHEDRAL- to include Brecon Male Voice Choir, a South African Choir, and Gwent and Powys Cadets

CARDIFF
THURSDAY 31ST AUGUST THE RE-ENACTMENT OF ISANDLWANA IN CARDIFF CASTLE- with 80 Zulu players/Royal Princes and The British Diehards. This will include workshops and stands for schools.
Included in the 10 days will be Craft Stands, lectures and art exhibitions throughout the Town.

No we are busy fighting Johnny Boojer at Detling over the Bank Holiday weekend, home for the standard shave, shower and s*** then to Cardiff for Wednesday and Thursday - glory days it seems last time we had the Company touring like this was 1997! Atb - Tim

This Reenactment in Cardiff sounds great to me. Sadly I am not sure, if I can make it to go there. (I am from Central Europe.)

Maybe one can help me with some questions.

Are there really around 80 Zulu reenactors? Where are they from, are they organized like the "Diehards" or are they non-professional actors from Cardiff?

Another thing which I like to know. For such an historic event, with the "result" of the battle fix. Which "rules" apply for such a reenactment. Rules in regards of "how the battle develops", "when and how to move", "who pretends to be shot / killed / casualty".

Would be great if those who will be there, could share some photographs and videos (if possible and permitted) afterwards.

The Zulu re-enactors are just that, Zulu who have been apparently trained in the ways of their forebears. I believe that they have been commissioned in their task by King Goodwill.

I noticed an article in a local paper that they were due to give a demonstration in London but got lost and ended up in a school in Yorkshire.

I think some of the boys were pitted against The Lions... at Chatham for Sergeants' Mess Evening some years back.

Maybe I travel to Cardiff for the reenactment on August 31.

Is admission free, or how does this work with Tickets?

Do not want to go there just to read the sign "Sold Out" ;-)

I believe that the entrance to Cardiff Castle allows you to see the reenactment but my advice would be to check with the Castle direct as I know they were talking about limiting spectators to 4000 - I am only there to build a bridge (figuratively) old chap!

I asked at Cardiff castle.

They said:

"The event is being held in the grounds so there is no cap on numbers."

I thought you would have been there just for the narration. Best book your ticket now for the 140th for the repeat performance.

Yes in a sense the lectures were poorly attended, but when three of your audience are the direct descendants of King Cetshwayo who cares? In addition during course of the second lecture, I was able to personally express my concerns regarding the iSandlwana Cultural Centre. That in turn has led to three nights of discussion between the interested parties which might lead to changes being made.

Their Royal Highnesses Prince Buza, Princess Nqobangothando & Princess Nomkhosi are all direct descendants of King Cetshwayo kaMpande.

Elliot Ngubane conceived the original plan for King Cetshwayo kaMpande 2017 Celebrations.

Brigadier Mahlobo is the South African Military Attache in London.
