John Chard VC R.E. sword is up for auction. A presentation sword with elaborate blade and scabbard with an image of the VC on it. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] I don't think I'll be able to scrape up the amount required to purchase the sword. My guess is the estimate will be exceeded. Never the less an interesting sword with 1879 VC connection.

Hi Will When it was known that this piece , along with several other pieces that were previously owned by the Chard family ... were up for Auction , the average collectors everywhere thought they had little to no hope , I remember seeing the estimates , and they in some instances will be far short of what prices will be realised . 90th
