I recently purchased Neil Aspinshaws very good book on the Martini-Henry “The Martini-Henry, for Queen and Empire”. It’s a wonderful book, of course. What I would like to find is a highly recommended book on British military sidearms circa 1879. Particularly, but not necessarily Webleys. Your suggestions appreciated.

"The Webley Story" is the go to bible on all you ever needed to know about "Wobblies" but it's isn't cheap - Fred Myatt's Firearms of the c19th Century covers all manner of stuff including revolvers in a fairly basic way. Taylerson's The Revolver Volume 2 - 1865 to 1888 is another go to and cheap option cause not a people know about it - from £12 on Amazon and elsewhere.
