| Hi everyone :) I'm new to this website i've just posted on the new users thread I recently bought a 24th Regiment of Foot Enlisted Tunic which is literally the same of the one the Actors are wearing in the film Zulu. I am really satisfied with the purchase. I didn't spend so much for it, since it's not original but it's in a very excellent condition. Here the picture as it looked like on Ebay: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]How it looks in my house: (No worries i wear it often) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]And almost forgot my pith helmet: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

Is there any particular field within the subject that you are interested in or is it the campaign as a whole? Kate Hi there. Well, honestly I do love all history, but especially i'm very interested in this time period, 2nd Half of 1800's and Late 1800's. I'm interested in the British Empire Military History. I'm not an historian obviously but I know lot of things about it's battles, soldiers uniforms, discipline adopted etc etc. So, for answering your question, I'm interested in the whole Zulu War. I may not know a few things about it for sure, But it seems lot of people on this website are well informed and are enthusiast about this time-period just like me. I'm sure i'll learn new things, and i'm already reading many threads. And about why i bought that Tunic it's because it looks daamn good. Also another reason is that even if noone do any reenactment in the place I live, the closest one is about 600km Away (which is a lot, but there they do huge roman era reenactments,in closer cities they just do a few medieval reenactments which aren't that good, sadly.) I love the past military uniforms, and even if i can't afford to buy original uniforms which cost thousands of pounds/euros i buy replicas. I do have a few other eras hats and uniforms. I looked for a lot of time for a decent uniform to buy and when I saw the one i putted above in the pictures, i immediately understood that was the correct one to get. Also because my favorite color is red and british uniforms are so fancy and awesome looking. Maybe i'll need to move somewhere else to actually join proper reenactments. Anyways don't take me for a collector, the uniforms i bought are totally wearable and i didn't spend so much for them since the're not originals, I'm just passionated about military clothing that's also why I'll try to enlist in the Navy in 2022. (Not sure if i answered you in a satisfying way, I hope so ^^) |

| Yes that was just fine thank you Lieut. D'arcy. So there is a naval interest? You need to speak to Petty Officer Tom who is our resident Naval Brigade expert. Welcome aboard Kate |

No problem :) Yes! Indeed! I currently Live in Italy. I must say that I ain't totally sure if enlisting in the Italian Navy...it's pretty complicated but even if Italy is a lovely place I don't particularly love the Italian Military, especially the modern one. It's not even sure if they get me, you know getting chosen by the military today isn't so easy anymore. You must be almost perfect and, at least in italy, not always but often, recommended, like people who enlist and get recommended by their parents/relatives which are in the Navy. I think trying should do it. But if it's so bad like i think i'll dismiss and i'll travel either to the UK or Canada and join the military there. I just hope all will be working out. I'm a pretty unlucky lad haha. Oh and about Petty Officer Tom, that's marvelous! I'll be waiting for him to post and I look forward to that ! |
