For those who struggle to visualise the battlefield and because I never tire of that view. Taken in March 2020 just before the lock down.

A very good photo. It's unusual to see that view without the distant ranges being shrouded in heat haze or mist.
AUSSIE
Another good photo. Would that be the Nyogane where the track crosses it in the left foreground?

Hi Aussie ( Inky )
I'm not sure but I doubt it , think it might be ' home ' quarantine for a couple of days ? , I'm Boostered now so should be OK over in SA , plus waiting a few months should help even more ? . International travellers can start arriving here in 2 weeks , don't think they have to Isolate , they must be at least double jabbed with a vaccine recognised by the Aust Govt , or they must have a medical exemption if unvaccinated . Who knows as it changes so often .

After battling through our wintery, blustery, wet weather, the thought of sitting on the balcony of the Lodge with a cold Milk Stout after spending all day trekking round the battlefield seems like heaven.
I'll be there Gary and hope you get across too Inks me old chum.

Your initial photo is taken on the escarpment quite a way beyond Conical Koppie. Distances are difficult to judge from a photo but how close were you to Itusi when you took it?

Hi Julian
It was taken from the Lodge balcony (you can see one of the outbuildings in the extreme left corner) near the top of the Inyoni ridge and approx one and a half miles west of Itusi.

Thank you Julian.
Inky with your hi tech camera equipment and tripod you should be able to get a really good panorama and you could do it from the comfort of the balcony with a bowl full of Simbas and an ice cold chibuli.

Hi Kate

What I have learn from Panoramic photos is you need megpixals so you can zoom in, on my next adventure I am planning to upgrade to the GFX 100S medium format which will save me some time, all this started by using my sweep pan function on my Sony A99.

I am hoping to have stage one of my website covering Isandlwana online by the end of the year and be looking forward to the feedback with 200 degree plus views
