Extract from an article from the Ashbourne Telegraph - Friday 27 June 1924
'... The proceedings commenced on, Saturday afternoon, when the ex-service men, under the command of Lieut. W. C. Twemlow, marched to the Chapel. Amongst the ex servicemen was Pte. Archer Holmes, aged 79, a native of Stanton, who served in the South Staffordshire Regt., and under Col. Twemlow, won the medal and clasp for the battle of Perak. He also gained the medal and clasp, whilst under the command of Col. Tupper, for the Zulu war...'
