Interesting, Francis G Pope born 17 Dec 1861 Shapwick Somerset, baptised 30 March 1862 at Shapwick, Ex Somerset Militia 6 Feb 1878, Attested 27 may 1878 age 18, to 2/13th to 1/13 2 Dec 1878, to Cape same date arriving 28 Jan 1879 arrived Devonport 18 Sept 1879. Hospital 10 June 1880, Med Invaliding Board 1 Nov 1880 unfit further service Palpitations. Service 2 yrs 215 days, discharge papers signed by Knox-Leet VC. Married Mary Ann Weston 28 March 1882 at St John's Bridgwater Somerset. 1881 census Shapwick, 1901 census Cogan Wales 5 Children, 1911 census Bridgwater 5 children, worked various jobs on Farms.
Emigrated to USA 29 Sept 1913 on the Lusitania, USA citizan poss 1918, or 27 Jan 1923.
1920 US census Onondaga New York m to Mary Ann 1861-1932, 4 children. A American reference gives 11 children but this needs varifacation. He dies 30 July 1944 at Syracuse, Onondaga New York, Woodlawn Cem Syracuse, New York Sec 49/Lot 178.
He appears on the findagrave website but there is no photograph a local newspaper report is rather in accurate.
