Mr Gibson was at Rorke's Drift and The Battle of Ulundi with my Great Grandfather Alfred Dennis, and they remained friends in later life.
We believe that it was my Great Grandfather who helped stonemason Gibson make the coffins for Lieutenants Melvill and Coghill. (If anyone has any information on that it would be great).

Definitely James Gibson b.1855/56 Knocknbridridn Cavan Ireland RE No.14441 5th Coy. Accident occured 10 Nov 1879, Med Board Pinetown 14 Nov, to UK s.s. Galatea 25 Nov, to Netley 27 Jan 1880, Discharged Unfit 16 March 1880. Died 17 Feb 1940 at 34 Colnbrook Ave, Shirley, Southampton.
