William John Todd attested 10 June 1874 age 18, born Carrickfergus Antrim, 1856. Another enlistment paper gives William Todd enlisted 4 Feb 1878 this paper is dated 2 Oct 1879 [i think his original papers could not be found for a Medical Board at PMBurg on 8 Oct 1879], arrived Natal 18 Jan 1879, to Col Wood's Column, Gunshot wound at Kambula right thigh. To Hospital 29 March 1879 until 10 may 1879 when it seems his leg/thigh was amputated. Med Board PMBurg 8 Oct 1879 found unfit for further service to Netley UK. In Hospital Netley 8 Dec 1879 to 19 Jan 1880 and final discharge.
He traveled home to Carrickfergus where he married Agnes Johnston march Qtr 1880 in Larne Antrim. He appears in the 1901 Irish Census, address Carrickfergus Antrim, married to Agnes with 4 Children, where he died in 1918 and is buried in North Road Cemetery Carrickfergus.
