This is a long shot, however here goes.

My late father collected military medals and his pride and joy was the Zulu medal, he had researched the medal and had written things down here and there , any how- I have managed with the help of this site and a group on Facebook to put meaning to the things he had written down but in detail what it all meant due to his untimely passing at the young age of 60.

As a family we were under the impression there was meant to be another medal to go alongside this one ? IGS and possibly a LSGC medal ? My question is, how would I know or where to look for such information .

Any help to which direction to look would be most appreciated

A visit to the National Archives at Kew could prove useful for you. There is most likely a set of service documents, probably survived as he received army pension (WO 97 - series 1881-1899 - look up index to select correct file box). He is listed in WO117 (Chelsea Out-Pensioners) He spent the last 3 years of his service with the Bedfordshire Regt 2291. You will also find the IGS roll at Kew.

LS&GC - he is not on my list for SWB (could be later Bedfordshire Regiment) - however docs will confirm any additional awards.

You will need a passport/driving licence to obtain a reader's card.

He is not listed in the India General Service Roll for 1885-87 It would appear not all of the Battalion were engaged in actual operations. The attestation records shown in your thread last year show he was only awarded the South Africa General Service medal with clasp 1877-8-9
