| The Basuto servant mentioned here is probably the same man as VIKINDUKU, named as Durnford’s servant, Letter, originally in the Standard, from the Bishop of Natal to a friend in England, dated 27th January 1879, The Pontypool Free Press and Herald of the Hills, 15th March 1879, p. 3 contains separate anecdotes.

| We Don’t Want to Fight was popular during the Balkans scare of 1877/8 - also known as By Jingo If We Must! which was response to tune’s title.
