| Im checking if anybody has source data ref the 80th reg of foot. Im looking into my family tree and found 2 possible members named Husselbee
Thomas Husselbee Regimental Number 1142 John Husselbee Regimental Number 535 Service Date 1877-1879
My assumption is they are brother from Penkridge Staffordshire any help would be appreciated. This is just an initial check, before I visit the museum in Lichfield for further investigations. |

| Evening,
Husselbee John No. 535 Private, born Parish Settenhall, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, enlisted at Wolverhampton 12/07/1875; age 21 yrs 8 months, joined regiment at Singapore 25/11/1875, eyes hazel, hair light brown, complexion fresh, height 5' 51/4" trade labourer, awarded Indian General Service Medal with clasp 'Perak'. Transferred to Army Reserve 12/07/1881
Husselbee T. No. 1142 Private, born Parish Pelsall, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, enlisted at Lichfield 22/08/1877; age 19 yrs, joined regiment at Natal, South Africa 05/05/1879, eyes blue, hair light brown, complexion freckled, height 5' 5" trade labourer, to 1st Battalion 04/10/1881
All details taken from 'A Staffordshire regiment in the Zulu & Sekukuni Campaigns 1878-1879'. I could check to see if service records survive if you require.
Regards Dash
I have not found service records for either man, but a Militia record for a Thomas Hussellbey does exist although age on enlistment in 1875 is given as 19 (maybe he was economical with the facts?)

Household Members (Name) Age Relationship John Hasselber 46 Head Mira Hasselber 48 Wife
John Hasselber 9 Son Thomas Hasselber 7 Son
so it looks like I might have the wrong family. Will start again looking in the wolvo area. thanks again for your help
