CTSG Is this your chap, It states he was a Rev, not Warden. Died 1909. So it might not be the same chap you are looking for.
The Late Rev. J. Clements, sub-dean of Lincoln Cathedral. Educ. Rossall. Joined 24th Regt. 1874; Capt. 1880; Major, 1886; Brevet Lieut. -Col.1887; Brevet Col. 1896; A.D.C. to Queen Victoria, 1896; Major-Gen. 1904; commanding 2nd Batt. The South Wales Borderers, 1897. Served Kaffir and Zulu Wars (despatches, medal with clasp) Burmah Campaign (twice wounded, despatches, medal with two clasps); South Africa 1899-1903, Major-Gen, on Staff (despatches, Queen's medal, three clasps; King’s medal, two clasps). Recreations: hunting, shooting, polo. Address: Quetta, Baluchistan, India. Club: United Service. Died 2 Apr. 1909.

I do believe the you have been mis-lead here. J Clements never served in the Zulu War, it was his youngest son Ralph Arthur Penrhyn Clements.
