Born at Merriott, Crewkerne, Somerset; trade - labourer. Enlisted for 25 Brigade at Crewkerne, Somerset 5/2/1877. Description: age apparently 20 years 6 months, height 5' 4 1/2", florid complexion, grey eyes, brown hair. Religion - Church of England. Attested at Taunton, Somerset 6/2/1877. Joined at Brecon 10/2/1877; posted to 2nd Bn 24th Foot at Brecon.
Private 6/2/1877. Granted Good Conduct Pay at 1 penny per diem 6/2/1879. Service continued in South Wales Borderers 1/7/1881. Granted Good Conduct Pay at 2 pence per diem 6/2/1883. Transferred to Army Reserve, Taunton District 30/5/1883; transferred to Cardiff District 12/12/1883. Discharged 5/2/1889. Character good, temperate and clean.
Married 26/5/1887, Emily Westcott at Wellington Parish Church and had issue.
Died at Wellington, May 1924. Buried in an unmarked grave (number 2963} at Wellington Cemetery 26/5/1924
